The Co-operative operates an open waiting list, which means that anyone aged 16 or over can apply to be housed. In an effort to make access easy for all we operate a "Common Housing Application Form" that allows anyone to apply to and from a number of Housing Organisations within Greater Easterhouse. The groups who participate with us in this scheme are as follows:

Blairtummock Housing Association
Calvay Housing Association
Gardeen Housing Association
Provanhall Housing Association
Wellhouse Housing Association
Lochfield Park Housing Co-operative

Therefore if you wish to apply for one of our houses or to one of the above areas an application form can be downloaded or obtained from our office or any of the above organisations.

Priorities
One of the most asked questions that we receive is how do you become a priority for a move.

We operate a number of lists as follows:

Transfer List
Tenants of the Co-operative who are looking to move to another property in the Co-operative area are held on our transfer list.

Waiting List
Other applicants such as family residing with you or anyone else who applies to our list are held on our waiting list.

Demolitions, Clearance & Special Circumstances
On occasions the Co-operative is involved in assisting the clearance of certain areas and as a consequence some properties may be set aside for these tenants.

We are also members of the HOMES scheme, which tries to help tenants who need to move to another part of the country for specific reasons such as to take care of family or to start a new job. At the same time we can nominate our tenants to other landlords who are part of this scheme.

Points System
To determine who has the most priority for any of our houses we operate a points system. Points are based on your housing need and are given for a variety of circumstances. For example if your existing home does not meet your current medical requirements, you are overcrowded or you wish to set up your first home.

Mutual Exchanges
You can exchange your house with other tenants as long as both landlords agree and certain conditions are met. The first step is to identify who you would like to exchange with and both parties must obtain a mutual exchange form from their respective landlord.

Membership
As noted earlier all tenants must become members of the Co-operative and therefore membership must be granted before a tenancy is taken up. As part of the membership you have the opportunity to become involved in the affairs of the Co-operative and we expect that you will agree to the membership criteria.

This basically means that you will abide by the terms and conditions of your tenancy agreement and you undertake to be a good neighbour at all times.

Giving Up Your Home
If you wish to give up your home you must give us at least 28 days notice. You must do this in writing either by letter or by completing a form at the Co-operative office. You will have to pay rent up to the end of the 28-day notice period even if you have moved before then.

We expect that you will leave your home in the same condition that we gave it to you and if this is not the case we will charge you for the cost of any repairs or remedial work required. You are also expected to move all furniture and other belongings and if any items are left we will also charge you for the cost of disposing of these.

In giving up your tenancy you are in effect giving up your membership of the Co-operative at the same time.

Data Protection
Under law personal data held by the Co-operative relating to you or your tenancy is subject to stringent rules to prevent misuse of this information.

For that reason the Co-operative cannot divulge information to a third party without permission and you also have the right to access information that we hold regarding you. There is a small administrative charge if you wish access to your files.
