The Co-operative celebrates our 15th anniversary year. We took over ownership of our first properties from Glasgow City Council on the 28th February 1992. We will be celebrating this year with a variety of events.
Prime Minister Visits Easthall
On Thursday 15th February the Co-operative received a visit from Prime Minister Tony Blair to look at work carried out in our office and our community facility the Glenburn Centre.
He saw how the Glenburn Centre operates and met Stepping Stones for Families who provide training and employment opportunities from the Centre. This project gives local people the opportunity to train for childcare qualifications on either a voluntary or paid basis leading to employment.
If you are interested in any of these placements or wish more information on this project then please contact Louise on 0141 781 2277 or email louise@ssff.org.uk
This was an excellent way to mark our 15th anniversary of ownership and along with our partner organisations we have planned and are carrying out a series of Community Events over the coming months.
Community Artist Appointed
We are working with Easthall Residents Association and the Greater Easterhouse Arts Company, and together we have appointed artist Karla Black to come and work with us to liven up Glenburn Park.
Karla will be speaking to a number of groups that use the centre to hear their ideas and we would like to know what you think about the Park. There´ll be plenty of opportunity to get involved, day trips, creative workshops and drop in sessions.
To get some inspiration we are organising free trips in April and May to special parks and gardens in Scotland. We are planning trips to Culzean Castle, Ayr and Mount Stuart House & Gardens on Bute. We are also planning a trip to Little Sparta, near Edinburgh.
Places on the trips will be free but limited. Look out for our posters at The Glenburn Centre giving more details and dates or contact Lynette on 0141 781 2277 or email lynette@easthallresidentsassociation.co.uk for more information.
15th Anniversary Gala Day Planned
On the 3rd August 2007 we will be celebrating our 15th year of serving the community with a special gala day. All the usual events will take place with a few additional surprises. The day is free and open to all so why not come along.
If you would like to see anything happening on the day please contact John at the office on 0141 781 2277 or email john@easthallpark.org.uk
